Petworth Peanuts & COVID-19

COVID-19 Policy & Safety Information

The COVID-19 landscape is constantly changing and there are inherent risks in attending in-person meet ups of any kind. Petworth Peanuts tries to mitigate those risks by hosting most events and meet-ups outdoors, but Peanuts ultimately leaves the decision to attend (and whether or not to accept the related risks) up to the discretion and common sense of our Peanuts members and event participants. Peanuts emphasizes that any members who feel ill (or who are in any way immuno-compromised) should not attend Peanuts events or meet-ups, and any member or participant who tests positive after attending a Peanuts event should immediately notify Petworth Peanuts (petworthpeanuts@gmail.com) so contact tracing may be initiated when appropriate. Peanuts follows the current CDC guidelines for COVID-19 exposure and isolation, which currently recommend that members remain isolated for 5 days if tested positive, with continued use of precautions (masks, etc) for 10 days. Please see our formal policy and safety information below.

COVID-19 Safety Information:

While participating in events held or sponsored by Petworth Peanuts, consistent with CDC guidelines, members/participants are encouraged to practice hand hygiene, “social distancing” and wear face coverings where appropriate to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19. Because COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is spread mainly from person-to-person contact, Peanuts cannot guarantee that its event participants, volunteers, vendors, or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19.

In light of the ongoing spread of COVID-19, individuals who fall within any of the categories below should not engage in Peanuts events and/or other face-to-face community activities. By attending a Peanuts event, you certify that you do not fall into any of the following categories:

  1. Individuals who currently or within the past ten (10) days have experienced any symptoms associated with COVID-19, which include fever, cough, and shortness of breath among others;

  2. Individuals who have traveled at any point in the past ten (10) days either internationally or to a community in the U.S. that has experienced or is experiencing sustained community spread of COVID-19; or

  3. Individuals who believe that they may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 or have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared as non-contagious by state or local public health authorities or the health care team responsible for their treatment.

Duty to Self-Monitor:

Peanuts members and event participants / volunteers agree to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 (symptoms typically include fever, cough, and shortness of breath) and to contact Peanuts at petworthpeanuts@gmail.com if they  experience symptoms of COVID-19 within 10 days of participating in/attending an in-person Peanuts event.

Automatic Release & Waiver:

By participating in Peanuts’ events and meet-ups, Peanuts members/participants automatically release, waive, and forever discharge any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature against Petworth Peanuts and its affiliated partners and sponsors, including in each case, without limitation, their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents (the “released parties”), either in law or in equity, to the fullest extent permissible by law, including but not limited to damages or losses caused by the negligence, fault or conduct of any kind on the part of  the released parties, including but not limited to death, bodily injury, illness, economic loss or out of pocket expenses, or loss or damage to property, which they, their heirs, assignees, next of kin and/or legally appointed or designated representatives, may have or which may hereinafter accrue on their behalf, or which may arise or may hereafter arise from their participation with the Peanuts event and/or activity.

Peanuts thanks its members for being conscientious of the recommended protocols and working with Peanuts leadership to help limit the spread of infectious diseases like COVID-19.

Peanuts reserves the right to modify this policy and related protocols at any time based on the latest developments in COVID-19 / infectious disease trends and research.
